EMLA Cream for Premature Ejaculation

We’ve written about Lidocaine sprays and creams quite extensively on this website but have you heard of EMLA cream? EMLA (eutectic mixture of local anesthetics) is a combination of 2.5% Lidocaine and 2.5% Prilocaine and is used as a local anesthetic for a number of different medical procedures but most importantly to you is that it is used to numb the penis in preparation for medical procedures to help lessen the pain medical equipment may cause. In other words doctors use it so it would seem that you could use it for premature ejaculation too, right? Well, if you live in a few countries like Australia, Canada, and possibly Britain it is available over the counter and you could give it a shot. If your like me and live in the United States then your out of luck, EMLA cream is not available without a doctors prescription.

How Does EMLA Cream Help Premature Ejaculation?

Because of the topical anesthetic properties of the cream it will numb the penis and allow you to “go” for longer. With a typical application time of roughly 20 minutes you should feel numb for about 2 hours. More than adequate to help satisfy that certain someone. I wouldn’t recommend longer than 20 minutes either. You may put yourself in a situation where you can’t get aroused and that’s worse than having PE! Don’t forget to wipe yourself clean after application too, if you still have some left on you then you may get it on your partner and she may not be able to feel anything. I guarantee you that she will not be happy with you.

How do you apply EMLA Cream?

Spread a small amount of the cream over the glans and let sit for 20 minutes then wash it off, not much to it. You should experiment to see how much works best for you by measuring out a short 1/4″ line of cream onto your finger and applying. If after the first time you couldn’t last as long as you would like then go up to 3/8″ and try again. You shouldn’t use this more than a few times a week.

What Are the Side Effects of EMLA Cream?

All medications can cause side effects so you should always check with your doctor before using any medications but here is a list of the most common side effects you may run into: Different skin sensations like hot, cold, burning, redness, or swelling (not the good swelling either).
Here is a list of severe side effects that you should seek medical attention for: hives; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling (mouth, face, lips, or tongue).

That is not a complete list but you get the idea. As you can see, EMLA cream can be a very effective treatment for premature ejaculation if used correctly and in moderation.
