Sildenafil (citrate), also known as Viagra, can actually be used to prevent premature ejaculation – it is not just for erectile dysfunction. Find out more in this article.
What Is Sildenafil?
Sildenafil is the chemical name for Viagra. It is one of the most widely used drugs in the world for treating erectile dysfunction i.e. inability to gain an erection.
It’s main competitors are tadalafil (Cialis) and vardenafil (Levitra).
Recreational Use
When this drug first came out, the only people who used it were middle aged men or seniors. Suddenly they had a new lease of life. But did you know that it is also used recreationally?
I know of many men in their 20s and 30s who also take Viagra recreationally. It gives more powerful and stronger erections but there are also a couple of other side effects that you might not know about.
Quit apart from this, there is also widespread use in the adult entertainment industry and many say that it has revolutionised the way that porn actors work.
Refractory Period
This is the time that it takes for you to regain an erection after ejaculating. Taking sildenafil decreases your refractory period significantly.
If you think about it, premature ejaculation might not be so bad if you could start penetration very soon after ejaculation. Sildenafil allows you to do this.
Many people compare their performance to their younger years and being able to resume sex very quickly after ejaculation. Placebo controlled, double blind studies have confirmed this.
Longer Time Till Ejaculation
All the above facts are well known to a degree. But what very few people seem to know is that sildenafil can actually increase the time taken to reach ejaculation in the first place.
Nobody is quite sure how or why this happens but I have spoken to many recreational users and they have confirmed it (and so does this study). It is also not as straightforward as you might think.
Experimentation Is Necessary
These guys tell me that you need to hit the right dose. It is not a case of taking more sildenafil to get a longer delay period. Sometimes half the dose is actually better. All these guys say that it is best to start from a very small dose, as low as one third of a tablet and then monitor the effect before increasing it to one half or a full tablet.
Also, different people report different effects. For instance, some guys have told me that sildenafil has no effect on helping them to last longer. They recommend trying one of the other two instead, tadalafil or vardenafil. Although these are all erectile dysfunction drugs, they each give a slightly different experience and this is why some men prefer one the others.
