What is the true cause of premature ejaculation? If we know the cause then we can do something about fixing it.
Anxiety
The true underlying cause of 99% of cases of premature ejaculation is anxiety. Here’s how it works.
You become anxious about how long you will last before you ejaculate. Anxious for you and also anxious for your partner – after all, you want to show her that you are a man and can give her tens of minutes of pleasure.
Anxiety works like a vicious circle: the more anxious you are about your future performance, the more likely it is that you will have a poor performance.
And as you start to penetrate your partner while you are anxious, the first signs that your arousal is increasing towards future ejaculation makes it even worse. Your anxiety increases even further. And this increase in anxiety makes you focus even more on the precious few minutes or seconds that you might have left.
Anxiety is a vicious circle. Like a ball rolling down a hill, it only takes the initial anxiety to snowball into the problem of premature ejaculation.
Some cures for premature ejaculation focus on decreasing the sensitivity in your penis. They don’t cure your anxiety but the reason that they work is because your fears about ejaculating early are quashed.
Secondary Premature Ejaculation
In very rare cases, less than 1%, premature ejaculation may not be caused by anxiety. It could be caused by some other condition, for instance a neurological problem or even diabetes. If you are unsure then you should see your doctor to be absolutely sure.
In some ways this type of PE is easier to cure because the underlying cause is so easily identified and usually remedied.
